I love games... the game play, the competitiveness, whether it be athletic or mental, board or video, co-op, single-player or multi-player. I can be quite competitive, I definately prefer to win and try to everytime - but ultimately I love the gameplay so will play regardless. |

I've always played board and card games with my dad and brother (and my cousins when we see them). I played several sports when younger, and still enjoy the occasional pick-up game, though the only organized sport I've participated in lately is ultimate Frisbee. My brother and me had a Nintendo, Super Nintendo and Gameboy when we were younger; but as we grew older and developed separate groups of friends, I played video games less with him and not much at all with my mostly non-gamer friends. |
 |
But then I met some more hardcore gamer friends, and have since renewed my interest in all games and been exposed to many many more. |

This page has some of my favorites in a few different gaming areas and some related website links. |

I play board games (and card games and pen&paper-type games) fairly regularly. Some games more often with friends, some games more with family (esp the word and card games). Other than war games, which are among my least favorite genres, I enjoy most types. |

Resource for info about pretty much any board game (including card games): BoardGameGeek. |

Play board games online! At Brettspielwelt, which in German means "Board Game World". The site is German but has an English version. |

Some favorite board games: Puerto Rico, Power Grid (picture at right is from this game), Ra, San Juan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Bang, Funny Friends, Blue Moon, Illuminati, Fische Fluppen Frikadellan, Settlers of Catan (which I first learned in Denmark with my mom's family, then came here and played with a friend who learned it in France. All the names got confused then), Cities and Knights of Catan Expansion |
 |
Some favorite word games: Quiddler, Crosswords, Boggle, Big Boggle (no longer made, but my brother got for me off e-Bay) * I love boggle, but my family will only play once a year with me, because after playing on the computer too often, I beat them too often. I on the other hand will only play Scrabble once a year. |
 |
Some favorite card & misc games: Poker, Suduko, Cribbage, Puzzles (made into a game by adding a speed element), Mahjong, Set, Hearts, Euchre, Rummikub |

I've played video/computer games in some form since about 10, but there's definately been periods of less and periods of much more play. When younger we had an Nintendo and Super Nintendo, then I didn't play many video console games until Playstation 2 and Xbox and beyond. I did play some computer games during the break though. Several games are available on multiple platforms, I mention it under the format I played it. For the most part I don't really get into first person shooters, but there are some exceptions.

Early Console Days: The various early Nintendo, Super Nintendo & Gameboy games, esp the Super Mario Bros series, Super Mario Kart, Original Zelda, etc.
* History and Info about the Super Mario franchise at Super Mario Bro Headquarters. Super Mario Bros. and all character names are copyrights of Nintendo Co. Ltd. |

Later Console Days: Personally, I own a Playstation 2, but play a large portion of the games I play at a good friend's place who has all the systems out there, PS, XBox, Gamecube, Wii etc. Games in the past few years I have particularly enjoyed include Grand Theft Auto (esp. Vice City and San Andreas), Halo 2, Timesplitters, Katamari, Ratchet & Clank series, Rayman, continued Super Mario series. |

PC Games: The SimCity series, The Sims, World of Warcraft, Myst, Half-Life 2, etc.
* SimCity: Primarily I played SimCity 3000 and SimCity 4. I tried Societies but didn't really enjoy it. For overview of series through SimCity 4 go here. Official EA website.
* The Sims: Mostly I played the original one, but I did play Sims 2 some as well. For overview of series go here. Official EA website.
* World of Warcraft: Aka WoW. I started not long after it came out in Nov 2004 and played through the 1st expansion. I still have an account, but play only sporadically, mostly logging on to say hi to people I've met through the game. I'm still undecided on whether I will get the next expansion. I never played the original single player Warcraft, but it's on my increasingly long list of games to try. -- Official website: www.worldofwarcraft.com -- Good references I used a lot: WoW Wiki, Wowhead -- To the right: My main character for most of my time in game, a dorf priest. |

I had a little bit of exposure to D & D through my brother when I was younger, but it wasn't until a few years ago I fully participated in any campaigns. I'm currently in my 3rd full length campaign, and it's the first one where I really feel like I'm getting a grasp of some of the intricacies. |

We were using Lego people as our characters, but then our Lego source moved out of town. We made some makeshift ones from my brother's old Legos, but eventually I ordered some online (at bricklink you can order pieces individually as well as full sets). I took a picture with my cell phone, it's pasted below. |
